My areas of expertise are middle grade and young adult literature. Within these two categories, I can work with any genre. I’m also comfortable reading most historical fiction and some contemporary fiction for adults.
If you write romance or hard sci-fi for adults, erotica, picture books, or nonfiction, I’m not the best person to provide feedback on your work.
Business Side
If you are pursuing a traditional publisher, you need a literary agent. To establish this relationship, your one-page query letter is how you introduce yourself to an agent, showcase your work, and convince them to represent you to editors at publishing houses.
I’m able to critique query letters for any fiction project, for adults or children. I’m not able to provide feedback on nonfiction proposals. Agents will also request to look at a portion of your manuscript to determine whether to read more. The most common requests are for ten pages, or the first three chapters (up to fifty pages). I’m able to provide feedback on each of these for the age categories and genres listed above.
